Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Program at Gilda's Club Western New York. Everyone at Gilda's Club wears many different hats, and as part of our volunteer network you will have the opportunity to become involved in various aspects of Gilda's Club.

After receiving your completed application, we will let you know when the next training will take place. Your volunteer orientation which will also include a tour and you will receive a Volunteer Manual with all of the many job descriptions. Volunteers are essential to our operation; we look forward to welcoming you.

To give you a taste of what we have to offer, here are a few opportunities to consider:

Clubhouse Volunteers - are volunteers who assist with the administrative workings of the program, or are interested in helping out in general clubhouse events. These volunteers do everything from working the reception desk and greeting members, to helping with and sending out mailings, to setting up and assisting with pot luck dinners. Many of these volunteers help in planning and participate in fundraising and special events.

Workshop Volunteers - are volunteers who have an area of expertise that might be shared with Gilda's Club members in a workshop, lecture, class or activity. For example: yoga, tai chi, meditation, art, book club, jewelry making,  lectures about: how to talk to your doctor, insurance issues, and so on. All of our workshops are self-skill oriented so that members learn the tools to help themselves. No soliciting of any kind is allowed.

Noogieland Volunteers - work with the members of our club who are children or teens, either those with cancer or those who have family members or friends with cancer. A background check, and separate training in addition to general volunteer training, is required for all volunteers working with children in Noogieland.

Community Relations Volunteers - are volunteers who participate in community outreach activities such as distributing Gilda's Club materials, working health fairs and speaking to groups on behalf of Gilda's Club. One of the most important things volunteers do for Gilda's Club, is to spread the word throughout our community.  It is our hope that with training, you will feel comfortable sharing with family, friends, and anyone touched by cancer, the mission of Gilda's Club.

New Member Meeting Volunteers - cancer survivors or individuals who have had experience with a family member or friend living with cancer are encouraged to participate. They attend New Member Meetings and share "their story" as new members come and learn about Gilda's Club Western New York. See Our Program for more information on New Member Meetings.
